About Bean Sprout Early Childhood

Bean Sprout Early Childhood is a home-based, Waldorf-inspired program started in February 2009. We create a warm nurturing environment where young children experience the building blocks of life through work and play. We also give support and guidance to those who are just starting off on the journey of parenting, and those who aren’t yet familiar with the Waldorf philosophy of early childhood development.
Bean Sprout Early Childhood has come into being through the vision of the Liesland family who have been involved with Waldorf education and have a love for the way that this type of education nurtures the child and creates a safe haven for childhood. The Lieslands’ love of Waldorf Education began with a Parents & Tots class at the Cincinnati Waldorf School in 2004. They have been attending classes and leading their own ever since.
Our Teachers

Susan, the lead teacher, is a Lifeways certified instructor and has been teaching and nurturing young children for over 10 years. She has always found herself working with children as a camp counselor, preschool teacher, substitute teacher, nanny, school counselor, and mom. Susan has an M.Ed in School Counseling and a special passion for working with young children. For the past six and a half years Susan has been teaching her own children and attending many Parents & Tots classes at the Cincinnati Waldorf School. Susan especially enjoys sharing with children her love of the outdoors, baking and crafts.

Sarah, a talented musician and artist, is the associate teacher. She is the mother of two girls who are both in elementary school. Her musical talents and gentle demeanor are perfect for helping the children stay focused and comfortable as the day progresses.
